On November 8, 2017, APMA and the International Council of Music Creators (CIAM) held a joint press conference immediately following the conclusion of the CIAM General Assembly, in the Hilton Tokyo hotel.

APMA Chairman Shunichi Tokura, CIAM President Eddie Schwartz, and CIAM Honorary President Lorenzo Ferrero announced the contents of the Tokyo Declaration.
