Workshop for Junior Creator Board Members (November 25–26, Mövenpick BDMS Wellness Resort Bangkok)
The Workshop for Junior Creator Board Members was held on November 25 and 26, 2025, at the Mövenpick BDMS Wellness Resort Bangkok. The two-day program brought together 27 participants representing 10 member organizations from across the Asia-Pacific region. Organized by CISAC’s Asia-Pacific Regional Office, co-hosted with APMA, supported by CIAM, and hosted by Thailand’s MCT, the workshop was designed to equip junior-level CMO board members with a foundational understanding of international copyright management, governance responsibilities, and emerging policy issues.

Day 1 – Introduction and Discussion (25 November)
The first day opened with an introduction to CISAC, covering the organization’s structure, membership, and current strategic priorities — including the impact of generative AI on creators’ rights, copyright buyout practices, and CISAC’s Global Data and Systems Development (GDSDX) initiatives. A session on Society Governance followed, introducing participants to CISAC’s professional rules, resolutions, and sanctions regime as the institutional foundation for consistent and accountable copyright management across its global membership.
The afternoon centered on the Role of the Board of Directors in a CMO, offering participants a structured overview of board responsibilities and decision-making frameworks. A dedicated segment on the Role of Creators in Supervision of CMO’s Activities underscored the importance of creator engagement in holding CMO management accountable and ensuring that organizational decisions remain aligned with members’ interests. The day concluded with a meeting with Thailand’s Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) and a welcome dinner hosted by MCT.

Day 2 – Mock Board Meeting and Group Presentations (26 November)
The second day was devoted to mock board meetings and group presentations, in which participants engaged with realistic CMO governance scenarios spanning budget approval, tariff rate setting, staff management, and board-level integrity issues. Each group conducted a fruitful morning session, working through their respective agenda items and reaching well-reasoned decisions through active deliberation. In the afternoon, all groups reconvened in a plenary to present their outcomes, sharing the reasoning and logic behind each decision — a constructive exchange that allowed participants to compare governance approaches and learn from one another’s perspectives across different institutional and jurisdictional backgrounds.
The workshop provided junior board members across the Asia-Pacific region with a practical framework for CMO governance through structured education and mock board simulation. The exchange of perspectives among participants from diverse legal and institutional backgrounds, together with the DIP meeting, offered valuable reference points for regional copyright policy dialogue and cooperation.
