APMA Executive Committee Meeting (October 27th, MCSC Office)

 

The APMA Executive Committee convened to review ongoing initiatives and establish future priorities in preparation for the Alliance’s 10th anniversary in 2026. During the meeting, members underscored the importance of strengthening APMA’s identity and enhancing its visibility not only across the Asia-Pacific region but also on the global stage. To this end, the Committee endorsed plans to expand the Alliance’s outreach efforts through initiatives such as regular newsletters, the publication of a brochure, and the enhancement of APMA’s digital communication channels.
The Committee also confirmed the launch of the Workshop for Junior Creator Board Members, to be held in November, co-hosted with CISAC, supported by CIAM, and hosted by Thailand’s MCT. The two-day program will introduce participants to CISAC’s governance framework, emerging policy issues such as AI, and the roles and responsibilities of CMO board members, complemented by practical sessions including mock board meetings. Through this initiative, APMA aims to strengthen creator representation and cultivate the next generation of leaders in collective management.

2025 Music Creators Seminar (October 28th, Reignwood Theater)

 
 
 

The 2025 Music Creators Seminar was held on October 28 at the Reignwood Theater in Beijing, bringing together representatives from CMOs, government agencies, and academia to discuss the evolving creative environment.

The seminar addressed key topics including the impact of AI on music creation and copyright, the licensing of musical works in audiovisual productions, and ongoing concerns regarding copyright buyout practices. Speakers underscored the need for transparency, consent, and fair remuneration in the use of AI technologies, as well as the importance of modernizing licensing systems and strengthening regional cooperation to improve royalty management.

The seminar served as an important platform for sharing strategies to address the growing use of AI-generated works, while reaffirming that eliminating unfair buyout practices and promoting fair, transparent contracting standards are essential to safeguarding creators’ rights and ensuring a sustainable creative ecosystem in an increasingly complex digital environment.
