Opening of the meeting
On November 4th, 2022, the APMA Executive Committee Meeting was held in Seoul, Korea. It was both physical and Zoom combined hybrid meeting led by APMA Chair Myung sun Yoon. Not only ExCo members but also CIAM Vicechair Arrien Molema and special attendee Teymour Aslam from COMP, Pakistan were presented to share updates and current status with APMA.
Demand for the amendment of Copyright Act in AP region
There was a questionnaire which was circulated by APMA Secretariat. The results came out from 3 sister societies, MCSC(China), MACA(Macau), and MOSCAP(Mongolia). All of them wanted APMA to support by providing various methods to raise public awareness regarding copyright and reaching out to their governments to make changes. It was obvious moment for attendees to reconfirm that the role of APMA in AP region is quite influential in positive aspect.
Creators’ Seminar
It was a section when APMA informed the members to make sure to participate in the International Music Creators’ Seminar on November 4th, 2022 in Seoul, Korea. Mr. Hong Ihk Pyo, Chair of Cultural Sports and Tourism of National Assembly, Benjamin Ng, CISAC AP Regional Director, and Mr. Chu Ga Yeoul, KOMCA Chair began with their opening speeches.
Registration of non-profit organization and fundraiser
APMA recently registered as a non-profit organization in order to raise donation from music industry all around. APMA is an alliance which helps the environment of music creators and more. Therefore, it was inevitable for APMA to not raise the donation and contribution to support the whole region.
CMO establishment and operation support
There are several countries in AP region where still are not fully established due to the pandemic and financial difficulties. So, APMA will provide training regarding licensing, operation, and etc. to support those who are in need of help.
APMA future plan
In order to support music creators in AP region, it is necessary to work closely with CISAC Secretariat and AP regional office. Whenever a society or music creator related group requests for a statement to support, APMA should be ready at all times to do so with CISAC. Especially, with fundraising project, the details and procedures will be confirmed by APMA Executive Committee members.
